Bio
I have been teaching swimming lessons for over 25 years. In addition to teaching swimming, I can offer a complete training program using the pool, track, gym, and weight room. I am a former USA Swimming coach. I am also currently a competitve athlete at the Masters level. I have taught group lessons at Webster Unversity and I teach private lessons also. I enjoy students of all ages and abilities from infants to adults. I specialize in training triathletes. Eighty percent of swimming fast is stroke technique. Increase your effectiveness and efficiency in the pool by learning to swim smarter, not just harder.

On the Memorial Day weekend, my 3 year old son jumped into a pool without his life vest, and quickly sank to the bottom. If there had not been adults watching him, and able to quickly act to bring him out of the pool, there is no doubt that he would have drowned. This was the impetus in obtaining Kay as his swim instructor just days later. He loved swimming, but did not realize that he could not, on his own, actually swim. Through five weeks of instruction, Kay helped my son through multiple milestones, including tolerating having his face underwater, being able to float, and being able to swim half the length of the pool without assistance. He learned how to dive, as well as safety habits such as entering the pool properly, and knowing how to get out in the shallow and deep end on his own. He has progressed so much during this time, in large part due to her patience with his 3 year old attention span. It has been a joy to have her be a part of the family during this time, and I highly recommend her to anyone of any age interested in becoming more adept at swimming. This was the best investment we could make for our son; I no longer have the fear of him drowning in a neighborhood pool out of overconfidence of his abilities. Thank you Kay!

I learned the mechanics of freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, flutter kick, and whip kick. Kay Lynne also gave me some good nutrition advice and dry land exercises to supplement swimming workout. She provided a written workout routine for every week. She really listens and works on specific problems with the student.
After 5 weeks and 6 lessons, I did not make all the progress I had hoped for, but I think my expectation was unreasonable because of my specific disabilities, and not a reflection on the instructor. Kay Lynne helped me address these disabilities in a manner both personal and professional. I would definitely recommend her to others, and I may sign up for more lessons in the future.
