About the Coaches: Head Coach - Nancy Reese
ASCA LEVEL 3 - Head Coach Nancy Reese began coaching at COHO in 1996, and became the Head Coach in 2002. Nancy grew up in Hanover Park and swam for the Hanover Park Park District, Elgin YMCA, Elgin High School, and Illinois State University. In High School, Nancy was a 4 year Varsity swimmer, a 2 year Team Captain, and an IHSA State Qualifier, swimming mainly breaststroke and IM.
At the collegiate level, Nancy was a 4 year letter winner and an All-Conference selection while earning her Bachelors degree in Psychology and her Masters degree in Physical Education (Coaching/Sport Psychology). In addition to breaststroke, Nancy also swam the 1650 free at ISU and wishes she had been introduced to distance swimming much earlier in her career. This may explain why she constantly encourages swimmers to expand their horizons beyond what they think they can do and to give ALL events a chance!
Head Age Group Coach - Jacob Weber
ASCA LEVEL 4 - Head Age Group/Lead Silver Coach Jacob Weber joined COHO in the Fall of 2002. Jacob grew up in Mexico City, Mexico and then in Des Plaines. He swam for the Maine Township Aquatic Club, Maine East High School, and Northern Illinois University. At NIU Jacob earned a Bachelors degree in Education. Jacob swam distance freestyle in college.
