About the Coaches: Head Coach
Matthew McDonough is the head coach of LBA and lead senior (SR1/SR2) coach. Matt is an ASCA Level 3 coach and has been coaching since 2003. While attending Towson University, Matt started coaching with the Tigerfish Aquatic Club. Upon graduating with a BS in business administration with a management concentration, he began coaching with both of Towson University’s college swimming teams in addition to Tigerfish until 2008. Matt recently coached at McDonogh School and Eagle Swim Team as the associate head coach, head age group coach, assistant aquatics director, meet director, summer camp director and swim school director until summer 2015.
In addition, Matt is the aquatics director, head water polo and swimming coach for Loyola Blakefield, and the technical planning chair for the Maryland Swimming LSC. Drawing his coaching style from his various backgrounds in summer league, age group and collegiate swimming; he is looking forward to continue working with the entire LBA membership and coaching staff to build upon the success and history of LBA.

Loyola Blakefield Aquatics was founded in 1998. Since then, LBA has helped produce Zone Meet qualifiers, Sectional qualifiers, Junior National qualifiers, and an Olympic Trial Qualifier. LBA has also helped produce High School All-American swimmers.
